How to set minimum and maximum ordering times for room service

Overview

When setting up the Room service feature, one of the most common questions is how to define the advance times for guest orders. This refers to setting both a minimum and a maximum advance time for an order. Before we look at the steps to configure these settings, let's define each field and look at some examples.

  • Maximum advance booking: This setting defines the maximum number of days in advance that guests can place an order.

    Example: If you set a 2-day maximum advance time, an order for dinner on Wednesday can be placed starting on Monday.

  • Minimum advance booking: This setting defines the minimum number of minutes required before an order can be placed. You can choose between opening hours and booking time as the reference.

    Example: If you set a minimum of 120 minutes before the booking time and the current time is 17:00, the earliest time that can be booked will be 19:00.

Step by step guide

Option 1: Room service with on-demand booking system

  1. Go to Content > Services > Room service.
  2. Hover over the room service you want to configure and click Edit.
  3. Go to the Hours & booking system tab.
  4. The on-demand booking system option will already be selected.
  5. In the Opening hours section, activate the Advanced options toggle.

Option 2: Room service with the PRO booking system 

  1. Go to Content > Services > Room service.

  2. Hover over the room service you want to configure and click Edit.

  3. Go to the Hours & booking system tab.

  4. The PRO booking system option will already be selected.

  5. Click Go to PRO settings to access the configuration options.

    Note:

    You can also access the PRO settings from the top CMS menu by going to PRO, selecting the corresponding service.

  6. Once inside the PRO section, you will see the orders screen. Go to the top right corner and click settings.

  7. Go to the Restrictions tab.

  8. Inside, you'll see the Ordering in advance section, where you can set the start and end times of the service’s ordering window.

  9. Set the value for Maximum lead time. This means the maximum number of days in advance that an order can be placed.

  10. Set the value for Minimum lead time. This means the minimum time required between placing an order and the order being accepted.
