How to organize room services using categories

Overview

Categories help you organize room services within the CMS based on your property’s needs.

They are especially useful for hotels offering multiple services of the same type, such as room services for food and drinks, a pillow menu, mini bar items, laundry, or specific restaurant services.

Categories improve CMS organization and allow you to create shortcuts or groupings that link to specific room service categories on the app front page.

 

 

Before getting started

Before managing room services categories, ensure you:

  1. Know the criteria you want to use for categorizing room services.
  2. Have access to the CMS and the Content > Services > Room service section.

Options for managing room services categories

1. Create a category

  1. Go to Content > Services > Room service.
  2. Click Add category (the white button).
  3. Enter the category name in the text box provided.
  4. To add translations, click the flag icon and input the name in other languages.
  5. Click the arrow icon to save changes.

2. Move a room service to a category

  1. Navigate to Content > Services > Room service.
  2. Hover the cursor over the room services’s box and click Move.
  3. Select the desired category from the dropdown menu.

3. Delete a category

  1. Go to Content > Services > Room service.
  2. Click the trash icon next to the category name.
  3. Confirm deletion.

Note: Room services in the deleted category will remain uncategorized in the CMS.

4. Rename a category

  1. Go to Content > Services > Room service.
  2. Click on the category text box to edit it.
  3. Enter the new category name.
  4. To update translations, click the flag icon and input the translated names.
  5. Click the arrow icon to save changes.

Review categories in the app

Once you have organized your room services into categories, you can check how they appear in the app using the Preview button. This button is available on the right side of the screen under Content > Services > Room service, allowing you to see the app’s layout as your guests will experience it.
