How to make a content group visible on the app front page
Overview
Once you've created and configured a content group in the CMS, you can make it visible on the front page of your guest app. This allows guests to easily discover grouped services or facilities from a single, dedicated section.
This article explains how to link a content group to a home page widget so it appears prominently in the app.
Before getting started
Before adding a content group to your front page, make sure you have:
- Created at least one content group in CMS > Content > Other > Content Groups.
- Completed the setup, including:
- Group name and visual design
- Group type (default, calendar, or routes)
- At least one group with selected contents (see How to add and organize groups within a content group for help)
- Have access to My app > (Select your app) > Customize app > Edit app.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Access app customization settings
- Log in to the CMS.
- Go to My app in the top navigation bar.
- Select the correct app if managing multiple properties.
- Click Customize app and then Edit app.
This is where you manage the layout and sections of your guest app’s home screen.
Step 2: Select or create a widget
- On the left-side menu, you find the widgets section. Choose one to place the content group.
- Click on the widget to edit it (or click Add widget if you want to create a new one).
Step 3: Link the content group
When editing a widget, you first need to choose the data to display on the app.
- In the Content source field of the widget editor, select Hotel.
- Then click the drop-down menu on Select content.
- You’ll see the list of available services and groups.
- Scroll to find the Content groups section and select the group you want to display.
- Click Save changes.
The content group is now linked to this section of the front page.
Step 4: Customize design and visibility
Depending on the widget type, you can edit different options.
- Customize design: title, subtitle, action text, etc.
- Choose the image style and/or background color.
- Set widget visibility.
- Click Save changes.
Step 5: Preview in the guest app
While editing the widgets, you will see how it looks on the guest app. Try and navigate to check it and confirm how the content group appears.
Guests will see:
- The title and image/video you selected for the content group.
- A dedicated page with tabs for each group.
- A list or map view of services, activities, or routes—based on your configuration.
Extra tip: Display content groups in the side menu
You can also link a content group to the side menu of the app to offer quick access from any screen.
-
In Edit app, go to the Side menu section under General settings.
The side menu shows shortcuts to all sections of your app, organized by categories you can define.
-
Activate Show side menu to enable it in the guest app.
-
Customize the logo, background color, and text color to match your branding.
-
Click Add group to create a category (e.g., Family activities).
-
Click Add section to link a content group. Choose:
- Content source: Hotel
- Content item: Content grouping
- Then select the content group you want to display
- Define the title that will appear in the side menu
-
Click Save changes.
The side menu will now display a direct link to your content group, improving visibility and navigation.
